Registration and Application

Please read this entire page carefully before proceeding. Volunteers are required to place a $50 deposit, which will be returned upon completion of volunteer obligations. When you’re ready to register, click on the link below to make your volunteer deposit. Please answer all application questions as part of the checkout process. Thank you!

VOLUNTEER CONTRIBUTION:  

  • Make your $50 deposit by clicking on the button above.

  • Complete the online volunteer application form as part of the checkout process.

  • You must bring ID with you to registration.

  • Volunteers commit to work three shifts for a total of 12-16 hours in exchange for a full festival pass.

  • Deposits will be returned the week after the festival, provided the volunteer has fulfilled the required hours.

  • CANCELLATIONS: If you must cancel we ask that you please let us know as soon as possible, and in any case no later than July 15th. Cancellations after that date will not be eligible for a refund and will put us in a difficult situation!

VOLUNTEER TERMS & CONDITIONS:  

  • Volunteers agree to be sober at all times while on duty

  • Volunteers agree to arrive at their shift 15 minutes early

  • Volunteers agree to be friendly and cooperative

  • Volunteers agree to adhere to GMBR Festival safety guidelines

  • Volunteer will wear shoes, their Festival t-shirt and bring a water bottle to shifts. Be prepared for sunshine, darkness and rain as appropriate.

  • Volunteers agree not to bring minor children with them to shift duty

  • Volunteers understand their Staff Commissary is for them alone and other family members cannot accompany them

  • Volunteers agree to complete all shifts assigned and confirmed

  • Volunteers agree to be sure their Crew Chief is notified should they be prevented from completing their shifts by unfortunate circumstances

  • Failure to comply with any of these requirements may result in revocation of volunteer status, admission, camping and privileges.

Requests will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis, and with consideration of applicant’s experience. All volunteer roles require some degree of physical stamina and the ability to stay on task during the entire shift.

Please choose at least three crews when you sign up on the volunteer form, and use the EXPERIENCE text box to briefly state what experience you have to offer in those areas.  The Volunteer Coordinator will match you to a crew that best suits you and the Festival needs. Efforts will be made to honor your requests to “work with” friends and family, but sign up early for the best possible outcome.

Volunteers can begin arriving Wednesday at 12:00pm to be ready to help on Thursday (gates are Thursday at 10:00am). This arrival time does not apply to certain volunteers like those on the early setup crew.

Volunteers must camp in the designated volunteer camping area until after noon on Thursday.

PLEASE CONTACT THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR AND YOUR CREW CHIEF IF YOU CANNOT FULFILL YOUR VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT. No refunds will be made for the registration fee after July 15th.

Crew Choices + Descriptions

 

1. TRAFFIC + Safety:

Help direct traffic, guide festivarians as they arrive, park cars efficiently to maintain open roads and generally see to the safety and well-being of attendees as they arrive and navigate the roads and paths throughout the weekend. In addition to your festival shirt, you will wear a safety vest. Flashlight, water bottle, sunscreen, raingear, and sturdy footwear are needed with some standing and mobility required for most duties. Shifts begin Thursday morning at 6:00am. Some overnight shifts available.

2. CAMPGROUND:

Camprground Crew helps arriving campers get settled in an organized way and ensures the smooth operation of the campground throughout the weekend. Greatest need for volunteer help is Thursday but some shifts available throughout the weekend. We're looking for a solid group of volunteers who can be available for a quick training session Wednesday at 5pm, as well as commit to a shift or two on Thursday.

3. GATE:

Gate crew will check wristbands and coolers onsite with a friendly, helpful attitude. This crew starts Wednesday afternoon.

4. BOX OFFICE:

Experience with credit card payments, efficiency and patience are important here. This crew starts early Thursday.

5. GREEN TEAM:

Recycling and collection of trash in the Festival area and campground. Shifts begin Thursday. Green Team members shower for free!

6. SET UP PRE-FESTIVAL:

Shifts being Monday or Tuesday and run right up to show time on Thursday. Tasks including but not limited to: fencing, setting up interior roadways, signs and banners, dance floor buildout, and assisting stage crew (experience preferred for stage crew). Mobility and stamina required. The Volunteer Coordinator will guide you on arrival times.

7. TAKE DOWN POST-FESTIVAL:

Monday and Tuesday following the festival Take down tasks including but not limited to: fencing, trash removal, signs and banners, dance floor packing, and assisting stage crew (experience preferred for stage crew). Mobility and stamina required.

8. KITCHEN:

Assist with preparation and service of meals in the commercial kitchen. Shifts begin Tuesday and run all weekend. Restaurant experience very helpful here! Kitchen shifts may be longer than other shifts.

 
 

Volunteer faqs

When will I receive my volunteer crew and shift assignment?

Most crews and schedules are finalized in late July.

How many hours will I be required to work?

The GMBR volunteer commitment is 12-16 hours per individual. Volunteers working during the festival work three 4.25 hour shifts. Volunteers working setup/teardown work two 8 hour shifts. Some exceptions are made, depending on the crew. If you would like to work two shifts in one day, please indicate this preference on your application.

Can I volunteer for less amount of time in exchange for a day pass?

No, we are not currently accepting part-time volunteers.

When will I get my deposit back?

Deposits will be issued the week following the festival in the form of a credit back to your payment method.

What is the staff commissary and how does it work?

THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

Coffee & bagels start at 6:30am

Hot breakfast sandwiches, 7am-9am

Snacks and drinks all day during box office hours, to include fruit, granola bars, chips, cheese sticks, iced teas, seltzers, juice.

Do volunteers get free showers?

Yes!

Do volunteers get free camping?

Yes, however volunteers must set up in the volunteer camping area until after noon on Thursday. Volunteers also get a free vehicle pass of either size for Hunter Park. Need to come and go? Park at Dorr Farm or purchase a Riley Rink Pass.

When can volunteers arrive to the festival?

Volunteers may arrive after 12:00pm on Wednesday. If you are working setup or other select shifts, you will receive early arrival instructions.

How do I get my festival passes?

When you arrive, please check in at the Volunteer Check-In table inside Riley Rink.

Where do I report for my scheduled volunteer shifts?

When you receive your crew assignment, you will also get instructions for where to meet your crew lead for training.
